Communities for Afghans announcement

We are proud to announce that Gulab Sorkh Foundation has been selected as a Principal Sponsor for Communities for Afghans (CfA) Phase 2.

In this role, we will set up voluntary sponsor groups to help Afghan families awarded sanctuary in the UK to find permanent homes, support them in gaining independence, and empower them to contribute to their communities and wider UK society.

Communities for Afghans Phase 2 aims to accommodate 500 Afghan households, approximately 2,750 individuals, through the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP) by March 2031. This pathway differs from traditional resettlement routes, as voluntary and community organisations across the UK will work together to provide accommodation and support for Afghan arrivals. The programme is designed to equip households with the tools they need to integrate into society, promote cohesion with local communities, and enable full participation in UK life. Delivery and monitoring will be overseen by four Principal Sponsors, including Gulab Sorkh Foundation. All accommodation offers under this pathway follow the UK Government’s single allocation policy, and refusals may result in a notice to vacate transitional accommodation, regardless of length of stay.

This milestone builds on the incredible support we have already received from our generous private and corporate donors since our founding after the fall of Kabul in 2021. We look forward to collaborating closely with government colleagues and fellow Principal Sponsors to deliver this vital programme. Stay tuned for updates on our progress in the weeks and months ahead.
